Emicol earns IATF 16949 certification, the new passport for the Automotive Industry
For a company to supply the automotive industry, its processes need to be audited to very strict international standards.
In October 2016, the international standard IATF 16949 was launched, which canceled and replaced the former ISO/TS 16949. All companies that had been certified until then would have until September 2018 to complete the transition from ISO/TS to IATF, whose requirements were elaborated with much stricter criteria, where the organization's risk analysis, the commitment of its management, among other aspects, began to be audited very carefully.
The name IATF is the abbreviation of the English expression “International Automotive Task Force”. And it really was an international task force, which also included the automakers and auto parts established in Brazil.
Along with the IATF 16949 certification, Emicol was also certified in the 2015 version of ISO 9001, which has undergone profound changes. The IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards define the fundamental requirements of the quality management system.
Emicol, at its unit in Itu, which was already certified by ISO/TS 16949, improved its management of organizational processes, making it possible to obtain IATF 16949 certification within the established deadlines.
Emicol's ITU unit operates in the development, production and sale of solutions in electromechanical and electronic controls and components, injection and over-injection of thermoplastics and thermosets and also of light stampings for home appliances, the automotive industry and various other segments. Included in this scope is the development and manufacture of the respective molds, with its own modern tooling. In this way, all of the company's activities were improved and raised to a new level, required for the future of the global automotive industry.
From the strategic to the operational level, the company's processes are managed in a more effective and efficient way, in view of the commitment to the principles of quality management, in order to guarantee the satisfaction of all interested parties.
Emicol invested in this certification to, in addition to meeting the specific requirements of its automotive customers, ensure the development of a management system that provides continuous improvement, emphasizing the prevention of defects and the reduction of variations and waste.
The IATF 16949 certification guarantees Emicol's customers the fulfillment of their specific requirements, whose certified scope was "Manufacture of injected parts, over injected parts and assembly of components for electric glass systems, fuel pump, windshield wiper, engine starter, alternator, throttle body, cold starter, clutch, ignition coil, windscreen and headlamp”, explains the Management System Specialist, Ana Paula Kostik.
